OpenLLM is an inclusive AI community fostering diversity
OpenLLM wants to foster inclusivity and innovation while embracing cultural diversity.
As 90% of languages risk extinction, accelerated by GenAI, preserving linguistic diversity is vital. Join us in promoting AI advancement and safeguard our diverse human language heritage.
Our approach is rooted in Open Source principles, ensuring that our model is 100% customizable and auditable from end-to-end
  • End-to-end Open Source

Choose an Open Data to ensure ethical training data, Open Code and Open Weights
  • Independence from Big Tech and Gafams

Choose an Open Source LLM to break free from the dominance of Big Tech Gafams with our empowering Open Source AI solution.
  • Use an LLM designed to tackle inclusion challenges

Choose AI systems built to embrace the diversity of cultures worldwide. Opt for compact models that can run on any device. Join us and our partner UNESCO to promote cultural inclusiveness in and through AI.
With GenAI's market set to soar from 10 billion euros in 2022 to 110 billion euros by 2030, it's time to get involved. But with great powers comes great responsibilities. Therefore, OpenLLM rises to tackle these challenges
  • Ethical GenAI development
  • Protect our cultural haritage
  • Protect our datas and digital independence
Established in 2023 in response to the French call for proposals titled "Digital Commons for Generative Artificial Intelligence," the OpenLLM consortium now brings together an ecosystem of over 500 members
Our Partners
Alliance for Languages Technologies
A European consortium with tree main goals
Our goals
  • Creating datatsets and finte-tuning models for specific use cases
  • Building a strong European ecosystem around language technologies
  • Building a generalist foundation LLM with ability in all 24 official EU languages.
Our Projects
OpenLLM spearheads the search for European AI projects, compiling a list of Open Source LLMs in the 24 official European languages, in response to the European Commission's 'Alt-Edic' call for projects. Access the list of European projects

Our Mission
We're on a mission to empower LLM projects across Europe, building the first multimodal multilingual European model with partners from every corner of Europe. Join us in shaping the future of language technology!
OpenLLM is actively engaged in identifying and uniting national initiatives aimed at developing LLMs or learning datasets
Our objective is to foster collaboration, co-create, and advocate for open source and sovereign Generative AI digital commons
Open LLM to preserve Digital Biodiversity
Out of 7,168 languages, 43% are endangered, Indigenous communities are at highest risk. Without intervention, 90% of languages may disappear. Just as biodiversity matters, so does linguistic diversity. Our goal: support all languages with Open Source LLMs.
Use OpenLLM to represent minorities
Most digital tools, like LLMs, favor major languages, neglecting smaller ones and cultural diversity. Despite 63% of websites being in English, only 26% of internet users speak it, indicating a disparity. Representation of minorities via Open Source and diverse LLMs is crucial for inclusivity.
OpenLLM for an inclusion through Open Multilingual technologies
Our compact, multilingual models run locally on older devices, promoting accessibility. We aim to break tech barriers while preserving linguistic diversity and protecting cultures.
Feel free to use it to build great things together
Feel free to amend it and add projects that we missed.
